Ralda was founded in 1972 and has since conquered a unique place in the world of folkloric music and dance. For over 50 years, the group has brought both Dutch and international folklore to life with dynamic and colorful stage performances, always accompanied by live music. The dances that Ralda performs are specially adapted for the stage, whereby the original, authentic elements of the traditional folk dances are preserved as much as possible. This ensures that the rich traditions are not only preserved, but are also presented in a lively and accessible way.

During international performances, Ralda shows a varied repertoire of Dutch folk dances, with the dancers dressing in traditional costumes that are representative of different regions of the Netherlands. This gives the audience the opportunity to experience not only the music and dance, but also the rich culture and history of the Netherlands. The dancers are accompanied by a live orchestra, which gives the performances extra energy and atmosphere.

In addition to the stage performances, Ralda also offers folk dance courses, giving people of all ages the opportunity to learn traditional dances from home and abroad. These recreational dance lessons are intended for children, teenagers and adults, and allow participants to become acquainted with folklore and dance culture in an accessible and enjoyable way.

Over the years, Ralda has participated in numerous international folklore festivals in countries all over the world. From Germany, the Czech Republic and France to China, Brazil and the US. Ralda has performed on large and small stages, and her performances have always been well received. The group has even had the opportunity to represent Dutch culture in countries such as Chile, Latvia, Belarus and Turkey, thereby contributing to the promotion of cultural exchange and friendship between different peoples.

Ralda’s performances are often described as cheerful, lively, authentic and varied. The use of traditional music, the exuberant dance movements and the colourful costumes create a spectacle that captivates both young and old. By making the rich heritage of Dutch folk dance accessible to a wide audience, Ralda remains a valuable ambassador of Dutch and international folklore.
